100 great things about Coos Bay, Oregon

Since moving back to Coos Bay Ore
gon I've made a decision to change my point of view about my hometown, from a negative one to a positive one. I have decided to post one hundred great things about my hometown starting with our parks. Technically there are two towns that blend into eachother, Coos Bay and North Bend that have had a long standing competitiveness but I'll be treating them like one since i frequent both places like everyone else that lives here does. Here is John Topits park at Empire Lakes in Coos Bay, OR. This park is located at the waters edge of Empire Lakes where you can also fish, walk the trails or canoe on the lake. Mingus Park is a beautiful jewel located in the middle of down town Coos Bay. With a large pond/lake to walk around Mingus has two playgrounds for different ages, a covered picnic area for birthday party's and is the host of many community events. I cannot do this park enough justice with my description so here is a link to explore this jewel of Coos County yourself. Www.Coostrails.com/traildrscriptions/minguspark/mingus.htm
